Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has arrived in Senegal for high-level talks following the fallout from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Motsepe is expected to meet Bassirou Diomaye Faye and officials of the Senegal Football Federation, with discussions likely to focus on the growing impasse involving Senegal, CAF, and 2025 AFCON hosts Morocco.
The visit follows CAF’s decision to strip Senegal of the 2025 AFCON title after the CAF Appeal Board ruled the final against Morocco a forfeiture. The ruling subsequently awarded the title to Morocco, denying Senegal what would have been a second AFCON triumph.
The decision has triggered widespread backlash across football circles, with Senegal officially appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
