Chairman of Ghana’s Parliamentary Sports Committee, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has welcomed the appointment of Carlos Queiroz as head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars.

The 73 year old Portuguese tactician was announced as Ghana’s head coach following the dismissal of Otto Addo from the role.

He has been contracted for four months with an option to extend the deal beyond the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana has qualified to compete in the World Cup that runs from June 11 to July 19 in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.

The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L with England, Panama and Croatia and Ernest Norgbey believes Queiroz’s appointment is in the right dirtection.

“He comes to the table with a wealth of experience and I think his tactical discipline…will propel the team. I’m sure even the players will also have the kind of respect for him because this is a coach with international rating.”

Chairman of Parliamentary Sports Committee Ernest Norgbey

“For once, the GFA (Ghana Football Association) has taken a decision that will inure to the benefit of the Black Stars and I’m happy for the choice that they have made” the Chairman of Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports said.
