Berekum Chelsea have confirmed that their late player, Dominic Frimpong, will be laid to rest on April 29, 2026, in Assin Fosu, Central Region.
The 20-year-old died after sustaining gunshot wounds during a robbery attack on the club’s team bus on April 12, 2026. The incident occurred along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso road in the Nyinahin District as the team travelled from Samreboi to Berekum.
His death has sent shockwaves through Ghana’s football community, prompting an outpouring of tributes from clubs, players, and officials, as well as renewed concerns over the safety of teams on domestic assignments.

Berekum Chelsea have since temporarily suspended activities, with players and staff undergoing psychological and medical assessments as the club works toward a gradual return to normal operations.
Meanwhile, police investigations into the robbery are ongoing, with two suspects, including a suspected gang leader, already in custody.
Frimpong’s burial in Assin Fosu is expected to draw family members, teammates, football officials, and supporters to pay their final respects to the young player.
