Black Stars’ forward Ernest Nuamah has taken a key step in his recovery after rejoining full first-team training at Olympique Lyonnais following a long spell out with an Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury.

The Ghana winger had been sidelined for over a year but is now back in full training with his teammates as he continues his rehabilitation and builds up fitness towards a return to competitive action. He received a warm welcome on his return, with Lyon expected to manage his reintegration carefully after the lengthy layoff.

His return comes at a crucial time for Ghana, with head coach Carlos Queiroz expected to announce his squad for the FIFA 2026 World Cup soon. Queiroz is currently on a European engagement, meeting players and assessing options ahead of upcoming assignments.

Ghana has also been dealing with injury concerns to several key players, including Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who has been recovering from an ACL injury, Mohammed Kudus, who has suffered a fresh hamstring relapse following a long-term thigh injury sustained on January 4, 2026, and is expected to miss the remainder of the season. Nuamah’s progress is therefore a timely boost for the Black Stars.
