Manchester City reignited the Premier League title race with a commanding second-half display to beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, capitalising on Arsenal’s shock defeat to AFC Bournemouth.

The result cuts Arsenal’s lead to six points, with City holding a crucial game in hand setting up a blockbuster showdown between the two sides next weekend.

Second-Half Blitz Turns the Tide

After a sluggish first half, City emerged with intent after the break and the difference was immediate.

Rayan Cherki was at the heart of everything, delivering a pinpoint cross that Nico O’Reilly powered home to open the scoring.

Moments later, Cherki turned provider again, threading a clever pass to Marc Guehi, who calmly slotted past the goalkeeper to double the lead.

Chelsea’s resistance collapsed completely when Moises Caicedo was dispossessed deep in his own half, allowing Jeremy Doku to burst forward and seal a dominant 3–0 win.

Title Race Well and Truly Alive

The victory puts City firmly back in contention, with Pep Guardiola’s side once again peaking at the business end of the season.

Their remarkable April record continues, and with momentum building, the pressure has now shifted squarely onto Arsenal.

The Etihad clash between the two sides next weekend could prove decisive in determining the destination of the title.

Chelsea’s Season Unravelling

For Chelsea, the defeat deepens an alarming slump.

Liam Rosenior’s side have now lost four of their last five league matches, slipping to sixth and facing increasing pressure from teams below them.

Despite a promising first-half setup, Chelsea were unable to respond once City raised their intensity; highlighting ongoing issues in both attack and defence.

With key players like Cole Palmer and Pedro Neto failing to deliver decisive moments, and defensive lapses proving costly, concerns are growing over whether they can even secure European qualification.

Momentum with City, Pressure on Arsenal

City’s statement win sends a clear message: the champions are coming.

With Arsenal juggling European commitments and City finding rhythm at the perfect time, the balance of power in the title race may be shifting.

Next weekend’s clash now looms as a defining moment one that could shape the destiny of the Premier League crown
