Liverpool secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, with Alexis Mac Allister, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak finding the net to give the visitors all three points.
Mac Allister broke the deadlock in the 40th minute, putting Liverpool ahead after the Reds had enjoyed the greater share of possession in the opening stages.
Palace had their opportunities to take the lead, particularly through Yéremy Pino, who forced a fine save from Alisson Becker with a header before striking the crossbar with another effort in the 18th minute.
Adam Wharton also tested Alisson with a header shortly before half-time, but Liverpool went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.
Wirtz doubled the lead nine minutes after the restart, scoring in the 54th minute to strengthen Liverpool’s grip on the contest.
Palace tried to respond, but Liverpool managed the game well and limited the hosts’ opportunities. The visitors also threatened to extend their lead, with Ronald Araujo heading wide from a corner before Wirtz forced a save from Dean Henderson in the closing stages.
Isak then put the result beyond doubt in the 89th minute, scoring Liverpool’s third to complete a comfortable afternoon for the visitors.
Liverpool finished with 20 shots, eight on target, while Palace registered 19 attempts, seven of which tested Alisson.
The victory gives Liverpool a valuable three points, while Palace will rue their missed opportunities, particularly in the first half.
