Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has praised his team’s response, singling out Mohamed Salah, following a vital English Premier League win over Fulham.

Liverpool beat Fulham 2-0 at Anfield to halt a poor run that had seen the Reds suffer a 4-0 loss to Manchester City in the FA Cup and a 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League.

Seventeen-year-old winger Rio Ngumoha opened the scoring before Salah sealed the win, a result that has boosted confidence in the Liverpool camp ahead of the crucial second leg against PSG.

Speaking to the BBC, Slot reserved special praise for Salah, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.

“It is important for Mo that he scored this goal, but it was mainly important for the team and the club that we won this game, and for Mo to score a finish that he has done so many times, inside foot, far corner. I’m happy he scored a vital goal for himself and the team” he said.

The goal against Fulham was Salah’s first since announcing his impending exit from Liverpool at the end of the season.
