Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has stated that committing to play international football for Ghana rather than England was a super easy decision to make. (Scroll down to watch video)

He said this in an interview on the AllOutFootball Podcast while discussing his time with Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars.

England-born Semenyo played his first international tournament with Ghana at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and is in line to feature in the 2026 World Cup after starring for Manchester City.

While some players have difficulty switching countries, Semenyo said making the switch wasn’t a problem at all mainly because of his standing in the England player rankings in his early years.

“I was never really in the England rankings like that anyway. Ghana came in 2021 and I can’t turn down playing first team for Ghana so it was such an easy decision.”

“My dad was so happy…everyone in my family was just happy that they support Ghana. I can’t even tell it was crazy” Semenyo said.

Despite having a brilliant club career in recent years, Semenyo has struggled to replicate the same form for the Black Stars.
