Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli says the team is happy to make it to the UEFA Champions League semifinals for the second year on the bounce after securing its place in the last four in this season’s competition.

Arsenal qualified after playing out a goalless draw at the Emirates Stadium against Sporting Lisbon to score a 1-0 win on aggregate after beating Sporting in the first leg. The Gunners will take on Spanish side Atletico Madrid in the semifinals.

Despite failing to score in a game that frustrated Arsenal fans, Martinelli had a positive outlook on the result and what it meant for the club in an interview with TNT Sports.

“Yeah, everyone is just buzzing in the dressing room. Two times in a row in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Everyone is happy. I think we deserve that. We’ve been playing well and we deserve that.”

“When we play in the Champions League it is always tough. There is not one single team that is not strong. We did well and we didn’t concede. We didn’t score as well but we take the draw and we are through” Martinelli said.
