Liverpool Football Club have parted ways with head coach Arne Slot after the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season.
The club announced Slot’s dismissal on Saturday, May 30 mere days after The Reds finished fifth in the English Premier League.
Reports indicate that Liverpool have targeted former AFC Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as Slot’s replacement.
The Spaniard is highly rated after leading Bournemouth to Europa League qualification despite having a significant number of players including Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo exit the club via transfers.
After excelling in his first season by leading Liverpool to win the EPL title last year, Slot’s side struggled in the follow up season despite spending over 400 million pounds on players including Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike.

A section of the club’s statement on Slot’s dismissal read, “The contribution Arne has made to Liverpool FC in the time that he has been with us has been significant, meaningful and…successful.”

“At the same time, we have collectively come to the conclusion that change is necessary in order for the club to keep moving forward. We can only wish Arne well in the next stage of his coaching career.”
