Black Stars defender Kojo Oppong Peprah was in action for OGC Nice as the club retained its French Ligue 1 status by beating St. Ettiene in a playoff tie.
After finishing 16th in the league, Nice played a two legged tie against Ligue 2 side St. Ettiene. Nice drew goalless in the first leg but delivered a top performance to clinch a 4-1 win in the second leg.
Oppong Peprah featured in both games for Nice and played out the entire duration of the second leg win. The 21 year old made four defensive contributions, made three clearances and registered five recoveries in the game. He also completed 46 of 48 passes.
Peprah has been one of Nice’s most consistent players this season and his fine performances earned him a call-up to the Black Stars 28 man pre-2026 World Cup squad that will be trimmed to 26 to officially compete in next month’s tournament.

Like Peprah, Augustine Boakye was named in Carlos Queiroz’s squad for the Black Stars and featured in the playoff tie for St. Ettiene but couldn’t help his team earn promotion to the elite division after hitting the woodwork with one of his three shot attempts in the game.

Fellow Ligue One players Elisha Owusu, Marvin Senaya and Gideon Mensah of AJ Auxerre and Stade Rennes’ Alidu Seidu are already in the Black Stars camp preparing for a friendly against Wales on June 2.
