Ghana winger Ernest Nuamah is reveling in his return to the Black Stars after a significant period out to injury as the team prepares to play against Wales in an international friendly game on June 2. (Scroll down to watch video)

The upcoming game also forms part of preparations for the Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign; Ghana is in Group L with England, Croatia and Panama.

Nuamah made the 28 man pre-World Cup squad by Carlos Queiroz and is expected to be named in the 26 man unit to compete in next month’s tournament despite making only three appearances for his club Olympique Lyon.

The 22 year old suffered an ACL injury that forced him to miss virtually the entire 2025-2026 season and in an interview with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) at the team’s camp, Nuamah shared how tough his return from injury had been.

“I just want to say thank you to everyone for your support, for your prayers. It hasn’t been easy for me, getting an injury. I have worked really hard to get to this point” Nuamah said.
