Head coach of Ghana’s Under 17 Men’s Football Team, the Black Starlets, Prosper Narteh Ogum has described Ghana as a heavyweight in world juvenile football and highlighted the need to make it to the Under 17 World Cup to live up to such expectations.

Ghana is competing at the Under 17 AFCON that is taking place in Morocco and the team is scheduled to play its opening game against Algeria on Thursday, May 14 at 19:00 GMT.

The top four ranked nations at the end of the tournament will qualify to the World Cup that is set to take place later this year.

Speaking to the Ghana Football Association media, Prosper Ogum spoke about how proud he was to coach the two time national champions.

“When it comes to super powers or heavyweights in juvenile football, Ghana is counted as one of the heavyweights in the world and the global stage so to me we need to qualify to the World Cup and exhibit what everybody knows in the world that is associated with Ghana football” Prosper Ogum said.
