Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has raised concerns over injuries to key Black Stars players as head coach Carlos Queiroz prepares to name his squad ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Kurt Okraku made the remarks in an interview with Footie Centre on the sidelines of the 76th FIFA Congress held in Vancouver.

“I know we have some challenges with injuries to key players. When I look at the list, it’s quite worrying,” he said.

Among the injured players are Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who is recovering from an ACL injury, and Mohammed Kudus, who has suffered a hamstring relapse after a long-term thigh injury sustained on January 4, 2026, and is expected to miss the rest of the 20205/2026 Premier League season.

However, some players, including Daniel-Kofi Kyereh and Ernest Nuamah, have returned to training with their clubs.

Despite the setbacks, Kurt Okraku said he is confident, pointing to what he described as the “indomitable spirit” of Ghanaians. He added that the unity following the appointment of head coach Carlos Queiroz could help inspire both players and fans.

He noted that with continued support from the technical team and supporters, the Black Stars can remain competitive in upcoming matches.

The team’s medical staff will continue to assess injured players ahead of the release of the Black Stars call-up list. According to FIFA, participating nations must submit their final squad lists of up to 26 players to FIFA by May 30, 2026.
