Medeama SC have officially secured the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title after a commanding 5-2 victory against Heart of Lions at Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium.

The “Mauve and Yellow” wrapped up their second league crown in club history with one game remaining, producing a dominant display in front of their home supporters.

Kelvin Obeng gave Medeama the perfect start by opening the scoring before Heart of Lions fought back to equalise in the 40th minute.

However, Medeama restored their advantage almost immediately, with Obeng grabbing his second goal of the afternoon two minutes later to hand the hosts a 2-1 lead at halftime.

The champions then took full control after the break as Derrick Fordjour struck twice in the second half, while Prince Owusu added a late fifth goal to complete the rout.

Etse Dogli converted a penalty for Heart of Lions, but it proved only a consolation during a difficult evening for the visitors.

Medeama SC’s remarkable home form proved crucial throughout their title-winning campaign.

Under head coach Ibrahim Tanko, the Tarkwa-based side transformed the TnA Stadium into a fortress, finishing the season with 12 home victories, just one defeat, 35 goals scored and only 11 conceded on home soil.

The title triumph also secures Medeama a place in next season’s CAF Champions League as they prepare to represent Ghana on the continental stage once again.

Recent results have highlighted Medeama’s consistency during the closing weeks of the season, including victories over Basake Holy Stars FC and Bibiani Gold Stars FC, despite a setback against Berekum Chelsea FC and an MTN FA Cup semi-final defeat to Dreams FC.

Away from the pitch, the club has also moved to strengthen its squad ahead of continental competition.

Goalkeeper Felix Kyei recently signed a contract extension until 2029, while Medeama have also recruited striker Abdul Rahaman Mohammed and right-back Victor Oduro.

The club is additionally reported to be competing with Accra Hearts of Oak SC for the signature of Emmanuel Boateng, the highly rated captain of Techiman Eleven Wonders FC.

Medeama will conclude their league campaign away to Accra Hearts of Oak SC in what is expected to be a celebratory final fixture for the newly crowned champions.
