Medeama SC strengthened their hold on the Ghana Premier League title race with a 2-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars FC in a crucial top-of-the-table encounter on Sunday.

The match, played at the TNA Stadium, was billed as a defining moment in the 2025–26 season—and it delivered exactly that, with Medeama rising to the occasion to create clear daylight between themselves and their closest challengers.

Heading into Matchday 31, Medeama led the standings with 53 points, just two ahead of second-placed Goldstars. But by full-time, that narrow gap had stretched significantly, placing the Tarkwa-based side firmly in control of the title race.

The difference on the day came from Salim Adams, whose clinical finishing proved decisive in a match where margins were always expected to be tight. His brace ensured Medeama not only secured all three points but did so in convincing fashion against one of the league’s most consistent sides.

Backed by their home crowd, Medeama approached the game with intensity and purpose, aware of the stakes. Their performance reflected a team determined to seize the moment, combining organisation with attacking efficiency.

Goldstars, who arrived with genuine hopes of overtaking their hosts at the summit, found themselves unable to break through. Despite their strong season, they struggled to respond once Medeama gained control, with the home side managing the game effectively.

The result sees Medeama move to 56 points after 30 matches, opening up a five-point lead at the top of the table with only a handful of fixtures remaining. In a league often decided by fine margins, that cushion could prove decisive.

The significance of the victory also lies in its timing. As the season enters its final stretch, momentum becomes as important as points, and Medeama appear to have both.

For Goldstars, the defeat represents a setback but not the end of their challenge. However, they now face the difficult task of closing a five-point gap while hoping for a slip from the leaders.

Medeama, meanwhile, will take confidence from both the result and the manner of their performance. With Salim Adams stepping up on the big occasion and the team showing composure throughout, they have taken a major step towards securing the league title.

The race is not yet over, but after this result in Tarkwa, it is firmly in Medeama’s hands.
