Accra Hearts of Oak boosted their push for a strong finish in the Ghana Premier League with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Nations FC, while Asante Kotoko SC’s difficult run continued with a 2-0 defeat to Dreams FC.
With just three matches remaining in the 2025–26 season, the results from Matchday 31 could prove decisive in shaping the final standings, particularly in the battle for top positions.
Hearts’ victory came at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex, where Mawuli Wayo’s early goal made the difference. The forward struck in the 11th minute, capitalising on a well-constructed move after applying pressure high up the pitch before finishing confidently.

That early breakthrough set the tone for a disciplined performance from Hearts, who controlled much of the game and defended resolutely to preserve their advantage. Their organisation at the back limited Nations FC to few clear chances, forcing the hosts into efforts that failed to seriously test the visitors.
The result strengthens Hearts’ position in the top half of the table, taking them to approximately 49 points and keeping them firmly in contention for a top-three finish as the season enters its final stretch.
For Nations FC, the defeat leaves them still battling near the lower end of the table, with pressure mounting to secure results in the remaining fixtures.

Meanwhile, in Accra, Kotoko’s struggles deepened at the Tuba Astroturf, where Dreams FC delivered a composed 2-0 victory.
Dreams took control early, with Oumar Nafal opening the scoring in the 12th minute after a well-worked attacking move. The goal unsettled Kotoko, who despite spells of possession, failed to create meaningful opportunities in the final third.
The hosts maintained their intensity after the break and doubled their lead in the 52nd minute through Ebenezer Adade, effectively putting the game beyond reach. Kotoko were unable to mount a response, with their attacking struggles once again evident.
The defeat marks Kotoko’s seventh loss in eight matches, underlining a sharp decline in form at a critical stage of the campaign. Once considered contenders, they now find themselves slipping down the table, with their points tally stagnating around 43.

Dreams FC, by contrast, continue to build momentum. The victory lifts them into seventh place, level on points with Kotoko but ahead on form, strengthening their push for a top-half finish.
With Matchday 32 approaching on Wednesday, the pressure is mounting. Hearts will look to maintain their upward trajectory, while Kotoko face an urgent need to halt their slide.
As the season nears its conclusion, every point carries increased significance and this weekend’s outcomes have ensured that the battle for positions across the table remains wide open.
