Ghana defender Tariq Lamptey has broken his silence after ACF Fiorentina terminated his contract with immediate effect following an ACL injury setback.
In an emotional farewell post, Lamptey said he had hoped to make an impact at the club and give the fans moments to celebrate at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“I was truly excited to play at Franchi, to wear this shirt, and to help the team on the pitch and give the fans something to cheer for,” he wrote.
The 25-year-old added that despite not being able to fulfil those ambitions due to injury, he remains grateful for the experience in Florence and the support he received during his spell with the Serie A side.
Tariq Lamptey endured a difficult spell at ACF Fiorentina after joining the Italian side from Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. last year.
Lamptey, who rose through the academy at Chelsea F.C., moved to Italy in September after spending five years at Brighton.
Lamptey struggled for playing time and suffered a major setback during his first start for Fiorentina when he injured his left knee after landing awkwardly. Although he tried to continue, he was taken off early in the game and was later confirmed to have suffered an ACL injury.
Before the injury, the Ghana international had only made a brief appearance from the bench in Serie A. He did not feature for Fiorentina again after the setback, missing 234 days and 45 matches while recovering.
Before his move to Italy, Lamptey made 122 appearances for Brighton and also played three senior matches for Chelsea. He is now expected to search for a new club as he looks to revive his career.
During his time at the club, the Ghana international made 11 appearances across all competitions and registered one assist before his long-term injury setback.
