Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has registered his displeasure over some decisions taken by referee João Pinheiro in Bayern’s second leg UEFA Champions League semifinal clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern drew 1-1 with the defending Champions League winners at the Allianz Arena to exit the competition after losing 5-6 on aggregate. The 5-4 loss in the first leg in France proved to be the deciding factor for the German side to miss out on progressing to the final.

A controversial incident took place when the ball off a clearance from a PSG player hit his teammate João Neves’ arm inside the box but wasn’t given as a penalty causing strong protests from Bayern Munich players on the field and on the bench.

In a post game interview according to the BBC, Kompany praised PSG’s quality but criticized the referee over his decision to not give Bayern Munich a penalty.

“We arrived in lots of dangerous positions but just in the moment to cross or play the final ball, PSG defended really well. It took us a long time. It was 1-1. We have to mention the decisions of course.”

“We have a completely different opinion [on the handball decisions].I saw two equal teams fight as hard as they could. These referee decisions cannot decide it. It could have been this year. Maybe next year those details go in our favour” Kompany said.
