Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell is confident his team can qualify to the NBA Finals after suffering a humiliating loss to the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Cavaliers lost four straight games in the best of seven game series with Game 4 ending in 103-90 loss to the Knicks.

Mitchell scored 31 points in 31 minutes in the heavy loss with teammate James Harden scoring just 12 points in 33 minutes. This was Cleveland’s first Conference Finals appearance since 2018.

By sweeping Cleveland, the Knicks made it to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999 when they lost to the San Antonio Spurs.

Speaking after the series sealing loss, Mitchell shared that he was sure the team would take the next step and compete in the NBA Finals in the future.

“I have no doubt that this group can get there. I’ve said that all year. The biggest thing is you just use it as a learning lesson. It’s a tough learning lesson, but now we know” Mitchell said.
