After surprisingly drawing goalless with World Cup minnows Cape Verde, Spain head coach Luis De La Fuente says his team lacked freshness.
Spain’s head tactician went on to add that his team wasn’t clinical either as he reflected on the draw that is easily the biggest shock result at the ongoing World Cup.
Top rated wingers Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams started off the bench after entering the tournament with injuries but both players weren’t able to turn the game around when introduced into the game.
Speaking at a post-game presser, De La Fuente indicated that there is room for his team to improve in the subsequent games.
“We know we can improve. We know we could have won the game today with what happened. We lacked freshness and being clinical. We have to keep growing, finding everyone’s rhythm. That’s what we’ll do over the next four days.”

“We know our opponent was strong physically. We lacked quality, the final touch that these players usually have. We lacked those details, to score with the chances we have but football is like that” De La Fuente said.
