The San Antonio Spurs were on the cusp of tying the 2026 NBA Finals after taking a 29 point lead only to suffer a major capitulation to end up on the losing side.
San Antonio lost 107-106 to the New York Knicks in Game 4 of the finals to trail 3-1 in the series that heads to Game 5 in San Antonio on Sunday, June 14.
Knicks forward OG Anunoby played a starring role in the historic comeback win by scoring 33 points and blocking DeA’aron Fox’s layup attempt that would have put the Spurs up by three points with 13.1 seconds left in the game.
Anunoby went ahead to tip in a miss from teammate Jalen Brunson to put the New York Knicks in the lead and seal the win.
Speaking after the game, Dylan Harper, who scored 21 points in the game, blamed the team’s loss on undoing everything they did well to get the significant lead.

“We went away from everything we were doing. In the first half, a lot of tough shots went in. Really, that was because we were playing the right way.”

“We got away from that in the second half because of the lead. We just can’t take our foot off the gas” Harper said.
