Ghana sprinter Benjamin Azamati will compete in the Men’s 100 Metre Final at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The former national record holder made the cut after running a time of 10.00 seconds in Heat One of the Men’s 100 Metres.

He finished in third place in his and managed to qualify after picking up one of the non-automatic qualification spots which puts him in line to win a medal at the Games. Azamati’s time was the fourth fastest in the field.

However, the story wasn’t the same for fellow Ghana sprinter Abdul-Rasheed Saminu who run a time of 10.06 seconds to finish third in his heat.

Saminu’s time put him behind Kayionsola Ajayi of Nigeria and Jeremiah Azu of Wales who run a time of 9.94 seconds and 10.00 seconds respectively.
