Ghana will have three athletes in the men’s 200m semi-finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after Joseph Paul Amoah, James Dadzie, and Mustapha Bokpin all progressed on Wednesday, July 28, at the Scotstoun Stadium.
Amoah booked his place in the next round by winning Heat 1 in 20.36 seconds. Dadzie also advanced automatically after taking first place in Heat 9 in 20.65 seconds.
The performance continues an impressive season for the Ghanaian, who earlier this year ran a world-leading 19.79 seconds.
Bokpin completed a clean sweep for Team Ghana, securing automatic qualification to the semi-finals with another strong performance.
The trio will now compete for places in the final as Ghana’s medal hopes in the men’s 200m gather momentum.
Amoah, a two-time Olympian, has a personal best of 20.08 seconds and reached the men’s 200m semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympic Games. He also won bronze at the 2023 African Games and has been part of Ghana’s successful relay teams at continental competitions.
