Nigeria’s Kayinsola Ajayi produced the performance of his career by winning the men’s 100m at the London Diamond League in a national record of 9.84 seconds.
Ajayi crossed the line ahead of reigning world champion Oblique Seville of Jamaica, who finished second in 9.87 seconds despite entering the meeting with the world’s fastest time this season of 9.82.

It is the second time this season that Ajayi has defeated Seville, further underlining his emergence as one of the leading sprinters in the men’s 100m.

Great Britain’s Romell Glave finished third in 9.97 seconds, while Cameroon’s Emmanuel Eseme placed fourth in an improved time of 9.97 seconds.
Eseme came into the meeting after winning the Budapest Grand Prix in 9.99 seconds, making another statement with a faster performance in London.

Ajayi’s national record came with a legal headwind of 0.7 m/s and provides another major boost for Team Nigeria ahead of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where the Nigerian will arrive in outstanding form.
