Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles has praised American sprinters Tate Taylor and Mia Maxwell following their impressive performances at the 2026 World Athletics Under 20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Taylor made history at the championships by becoming the first male athlete to win three sprint gold medals at a single edition of the World U20 Championships.
The American claimed gold in the men’s 100m and 200m before helping the United States win the 4x100m relay title.
Mia Maxwell also enjoyed a successful championships, winning gold in both the women’s 100m and 200m. Her twin sister, Mariah Maxwell, added a bronze medal in the 200m.
Their performances caught the attention of Lyles, who praised the young sprinters in a post on X.
“This double Gold that Tate Taylor and Mia Maxwell just pulled off is probably one of the hardest to do.
“Mostly because of how hard the schedule is. 6 races in 4 days is SOOO hard on the body. Then to do it as U20 athletes is even crazier.”
