Ghana Premier League side Bibiani Gold Stars has appointed Petros Koukouras as head coach of the club ahead of the 2026-2027 campaign.
The Greek coach takes over the head coaching role from Fritz Schmid who led Gold Stars to finish second in the GPL last season despite taking over the role half way through the immediate past campaign.
37 year old Koukouras has served as assistant manager of South Sudan’s National Men’s Football Team in his career.
He has served in a head coaching role at SC Villa Jogoo and Pacific Heroes with both clubs competing in the Ugandan top flight.
After winning the 2024-2025 GPL title under Frimpong Manso, Gold Stars sacked him early into the 2025-2026 season with the club struggling to replicate its top form from the previous campaign.
Schmid got Bibiani back on track to mount a serious title challenge that had Gold Stars lose the league title to Medeama SC. Gold Stars bagged 60 points while Medeama registered 62 points.
