Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell has agreed to a lucrative four year deal worth $273 million to stick with the team in the immediate future.

Mitchell has been with the Cavaliers for four years after getting traded from the Utah Jazz and has made it to the NBA All-Star Team in each season he has spent in Cleveland.

Co-head of basketball at Mitchell’s agency-CAA- Austin Brown, confirmed the deal which holds a trade kicker clause to ESPN. A trade kicker awards a player money should he get traded from his team to another team.

The terms of Mitchell’s new deal include a player option in his final year which renders the deal essentially a three year contract.

This development comes on the back of Mitchell averaging 27. 9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists in his first season playing alongside James Harden who joined the team midway through last season.

In the 2025-2026 season, Cleveland Cavaliers made it to the Eastern Conference Finals but lost overwhelmingly (4-0 in the best of seven game series) to the New York Knicks who went on to win the NBA title.
