Newly appointed Portugal National Men’s Football Team head coach Jorge Jesus has delivered a big indication that he will feature Cristiano Ronaldo in his call ups.

He indicated this after getting appointed as head coach of the European nation on a four year deal to replace Roberto Martinez who stepped down from the role after Portugal’s round of 16 stage elimination at the 2026 FIFA World Cup by Spain via a 1-0 loss.

Jesus takes over a Portuguese side that is dealing with reports that suggest that the team will be better off playing without the 41 year old.

Having worked together at Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League that ended in the club winning the league title, Jesus welcomed the idea of a reunion with Ronaldo at the international level.

“I haven’t spoken to Cris yet. He will never be a problem for the national team or for me. As for the controversy, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If he is in a position to be called up, I will do so.”

“When the time comes to make a decision, I will speak with Cris and with everyone else individually. Cris is a symbol of Portugal. He will go down in history. It has been a great pleasure working with him. He is incredibly easy to work with” Jesus said.

Following Portugal’s poor campaign, that had Ronaldo score three goals in his sixth World Cup campaign, Ronaldo said this year’s World Cup was his last.
