Former Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew says immediate past head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, should have been sacked long before he got kicked out.
Dede Ayew made this statement as a guest on former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi’s podcast where a special episode was shot in Ghana.
Despite leading Ghana to qualify to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Otto Addo was sacked in March this year after Ghana lost four friendly games in a row.
For Dede Ayew, Ghana should have sacked Otto Addo immediately after he failed to guide the Black Stars to qualify to the 2025 AFCON.
“I think that should have happened long before [Otto Addo was sacked]. I think when you are Ghana and not qualified for AFCON, you can’t call it any better” Ayew said.

36 year old Dede Ayew is a free agent at the time of writing after playing out the second half of the 2025-2026 season with Dutch side NAC Breda. He scored once in 17 appearances.
