Andre Dede Ayew has opened up about his frustration after missing out on a call up to the Black Stars squad that competed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He shared this frustration as a guest on 2013 AFCON winner John Mikel Obi’s podcast where he also stated that former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo should have been sacked earlier before he got dismissed. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
“I was playing regularly for NAC Breda, and I know some people were calling for me to be part. To be fair, some of the players who went to the World Cup, they didn’t have a lot of game time in the season.”
“People said a lot of things. A lot of people did me a lot of wrong. I felt it but I did not say one word. I cannot spit on my country because of certain people. Ghana is more important” Dede Ayew said.

Ghana made it to the round of 32 stage at the World Cup before exiting after suffering a 1-0 loss to Colombia.
