Hull City marked their return to the English Premier League by delivering a stunning result in its opening game of the 2026-2027 season.
The Tigers beat Manchester United 2-0 with both goals coming in the first half from defenders Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy.
Man United had goalkeeper Senne Lammens pull off a couple of saves to keep the score goalless before Ajayi reacted fastest to a rebound to smash the ball into the net and shared how delighted he was to get a goal in the win.
“It was amazing, it capped off a great start that we had had. I was buzzing to get the goal that got us on our way. I didn’t really care if any of us scored, there was no VAR check so I was buzzing that we got the goal.”
“We’re not focused on outside noise, we back ourselves to do well and hopefully we will have a really positive season” Ajayi said to TNT Sports after the game.
