Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren says his team is ready for a crucial World Cup qualification clash against Côte d’Ivoire.
Ghana will face the Ivorians on Thursday, August 13, in Morocco at 17:00 GMT, with a place in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup play-offs at stake.
The Black Queens must win to keep their hopes of reaching next year’s World Cup alive after failing to secure automatic qualification by reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana suffered a shock 2–1 quarter-final defeat to Malawi, forcing them to take the longer route to the World Cup through the qualification play-offs. Ahead of the clash with Côte d’Ivoire, Björkegren spoke about his team’s preparations and the importance of the match during a pre-game press conference.
“To be honest, no pressure at all. I do not feel pressure because if I feel pressure, I can’t make the right decisions.”
