Leeds United and Rangers co-owner Jed York has been jailed in Ohio after being arrested in connection with a prostitution-related case.
The 45-year-old, who is also the owner of NFL side San Francisco 49ers, pleaded no contest to charges of disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools.
York was sentenced to one day in jail for each offence, with the sentences to run concurrently. He was given credit for time already served.
He was also fined $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools.
Court records show the case was filed by the East Palestine Police Department at Columbiana County Municipal Court on Monday.
According to US media reports, York allegedly responded to an advertisement on a prostitution website placed by undercover officers from an Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force.
Court documents reportedly state that he arranged to engage in sexual activity with a woman in exchange for $140.
As part of a plea agreement, the original charge was reduced to disorderly conduct and possessing criminal tools, with the latter believed to relate to the phone used to respond to the advertisement.
An application to have the case expunged was also filed but denied on the same day.
York became a co-owner of Rangers through 49ers Enterprises, the investment arm of the San Francisco 49ers.
In May 2025, a consortium led by US businessman Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises completed a takeover of Rangers after acquiring a controlling 51% stake in the Scottish Premiership club.
Cavenagh became chairman, while 49ers Enterprises took a leading role in the club’s ownership.
49ers Enterprises first invested in Leeds United in 2018, when the club was in the Championship, before increasing its stake and eventually taking full control in 2023.
Meanwhile, York’s position as owner of the San Francisco 49ers means he is subject to NFL personal conduct rules.
