Paris Saint-Germain (PSG)’s slow start to the 2026-2027 French Ligue 1 season continued as the defending champions failed to win their latest tie.
Playing in front of their home fans for the first time this season, PSG lost 2-1 to AS Monaco despite taking the lead in the 31st minute through Marquinhos.
After losing the French Super Cup to RC Lens and drawing against Stade Rennes and Lille, PSG suffered their first loss of the campaign.
Ghana defender Salisu Mohammed missed the game as he continued to recover from an ACL injury and following the loss, PSG head coach Luis Enrique called for his team to improve by stating,
“We tried to control the game against a great Monaco side, but they started with a strong ability to beat our press. It’s inexplicable, but that’s football.”

“I’m happy with the players, although we need to improve individually and collectively, and that includes me, the manager, because we’re struggling in the league table.”
