Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler says there is no room for complacency for his team in their 2026-2027 Ghana Premier League season opening game.
Tinkler said this ahead of Kotoko’s clash against Debibi United which takes place at the Berekum Golden City Park on Sunday, September 6.
Debibi United are competing in the Ghana Premier League for the first time ever and aim to be the latest league debutant to earn at least a point against the Porcupine Warriors in recent years which prompted Tinkler to state,
“We’ve got to match them in terms of our work ethic but then our qualities needs to come out and hopefully we can go there and get a positive result.”

“You don’t win leagues by beating Heart of Oak and Medeama, you win leagues because you’re beating teams at the bottom of the log so the complacency cannot permitted in those games. A club like Asante Kotoko, home and away, should be winning football matches” Tinkler said.
