Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz says his resignation from the position would do little to change the outlook of Ghana football.
He said this in a post-game presser after Ghana lost 4-2 to The Gambia in a 2027 AFCON qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Ghana took a 2-0 lead through Ernest Nuamah and Felix Afena-Gyan in the 27th and 33rd minute respectively but crumbled after the brilliant start to lose the tie in shocking fashion.
The Black Stars rank bottom of Group C in the qualifiers after losing 2-0 to Cote D’Ivoire in an earlier encounter prompting serious calls for Queiroz to resign from his role. In response, Queiroz said,
“When results like this [happens], the option to resign is the most easy solution. If you believe that if the coach resigns, you can the situation of football in Ghana, I will be the first one to resign.”
“I don’t have that belief but that is the decision for the board of the federation (GFA) to analyze and decide” Queiroz said.
