Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has stated that left full back Luke Shaw has been given an extra day off to recover for the club’s UEFA Champions League tie.
Man United are scheduled to take on Azerbaijan side Sabah FC on Thursday, September 10 at Old Trafford marking the Red Devils’ return to the elite club competition.
Carrick said this in an interview ahead of the game whicj throws more focus on the club’s inability to sign a left full back in the recently closed transfer window to compete with starter Shaw for the position.
“We just gave him-Luke Shaw- an extra recovery day today. We will see by tomorrow how he is but it is not an on-going thing or plan or anything like that off the back of the game the other day.”

“As normal, each individual, there’s different things we are managing and Luke is one of them today” Carrick said.

Shaw has played in all three Man United league games this season including playing 89 minutes in the team’s 2-2 draw with Everton where he registered an assist.
