Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards believes LaMelo Ball’s arrival can help him have a big season.
Speaking to the media ahead of the NBA preseason, Edwards reflected on the offseason trade that sent Naz Reid to the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Ball.
Edwards said Ball’s arrival will let him focus on his natural position at shooting guard rather than taking on point guard duties, as he has in recent seasons. The Timberwolves guard is confident the change will help him play more freely and improve his impact this season.
“I’m super happy about the changes in the locker room. Just a bunch of different mentalities, personalities.”

“I think it’s going to mesh well together. I feel like I’m a natural two guard at heart. I never thought I could develop any point guard skills. I know [coach Chris Finch] harps on me passing the ball, but now we got LaMelo, so I’m happy.”

“The last couple years I couldn’t play defense as well as I wanted to because I was bringing the ball up. At times, I had to score all the time. I was super tired, but now I got LaMelo. This year I’m going to be great in my game a lot differently” Edwards said.
