Al-Nassr suffered their heaviest defeat since Cristiano Ronaldo joined the club after a 4-0 loss to Al-Ain in their opening 2026/27 Asian Champions League Elite game.
The Saudi Pro League champions were comfortably beaten by the United Arab Emirates side, leaving Ronaldo’s team bottom of the 16-team standings.
Houssine Rahimi opened the scoring for Al-Ain in the 25th minute before Al-Nassr collapsed in the second half, conceding three more goals.
Speaking after the game, head coach of Al-Nassr, Ange Postecoglou, accepted responsibility for the result, insisting his players gave everything despite the disappointing performance.
“The players gave everything they had, and I do not place any responsibility on them … and the responsibility is my responsibility. Al Nassr as a whole was poor” Postecoglou said.
Ronaldo went into the game looking for his 980th goal in his storied career as he continues his chase to 1000 goals.
