Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi has confirmed his departure from the club after one season, amid reports linking him with South African side Stellenbosch FC.

Agbasi announced his exit in a farewell message to the club’s supporters, teammates and staff.

“My time at the club has come to an end, and I would like to thank everyone involved. The past year has flown by, but it will stay with me forever,” he wrote.

“Thank you to all my teammates, Managers and Staff along the way, and of course thank you to all the lovely fans. It’s been nothing but love from the start.”

Agbasi joined Hearts ahead of the 2025/26 season after establishing himself at Dreams FC and quickly became an important member of the squad.

The 25-year-old has made 74 Ghana Premier League appearances for Dreams FC and Hearts of Oak, with 54 goals conceded and 36 clean sheets.

His performances also earned him a Black Stars call-up in February 2026. He was included in Ghana’s wider squad for the March international friendlies against Austria, Germany and Mexico before being involved in the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz confirmed Agbasi as an additional goalkeeper who travelled with the squad, although he was not named in Ghana’s final 26-man World Cup squad. Agbasi did, however, make his senior international debut in 2026 in Ghana’s game against Mexico and currently has one Black Stars cap.

His Hearts departure comes amid reports that he is close to joining Stellenbosch in the South African Premier Soccer League. Reports in August indicated that the club was in advanced talks with the goalkeeper after his Hearts contract expired at the end of the 2025/26 season.

Agbasi ended his farewell message by thanking the Hearts faithful and leaving the door open for a possible return.

“I’ve loved every minute here, and I will miss playing in the Phobia colours. I wish the club nothing but success for the season and the future, and maybe we will cross paths again,” he said.
