Manchester United forward Bryan Mbeumo is adamant his team’s mentality was right in their game against Chelsea despite losing 2-0 to the Blues.
The English Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge had Man United miss several chances in a goalless first half before conceding a Morgan Rogers goal.
In the second half, Lisandro Martinez lost his cool and elbowed Wesley Fofana in the penalty box while battling for position on a corner kick attempt.
The Argentine player was sent off in the 63rd minute and Cole Palmer converted the subsequent penalty kick to clinch the win for Chelsea.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the loss, Mbeumo reflected on the team’s missed chances by stating that,

“A lot of disappointment. I think we have done a lot of right things, especially in the first half when we could have been up one or two-nil. I think the first half we had a lot of chances, which is a positive.”

“The last few games we didn’t create a lot, but obviously they’re a good team with qualities. What we have shown today – the mentality was there. Everyone worked really hard…but I think we have done everything as a team today.”

“Maybe today we just missed some chances. We could have been up early in the game, but that’s a positive to take out of this game.”
