Former Black Stars captain André Dede Ayew has donated an undisclosed sum to Ghana’s men’s amputee football team, the Black Challenge, ahead of the 2026 Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.
Ayew made the donation during a visit to the team’s training session at the University of Ghana, Legon, where he encouraged the players to give their best and return home with the trophy.

“I’m here to support and give you all the love and power that I can give you, and to wish you great luck. I hope that you guys will bring us a medal, but the gold will be better,” he said.
Speaking to the media after the donation, Dede Ayew said the team’s hard work and achievements in amputee football inspired him.
He also urged Ghanaians to rally behind the team, highlighting its success in winning medals and trophies for the country.

“They have been winning medals and trophies for the country, so we need to all rally behind them. In anything we’re doing, remember that our national amputee football team is there,” Ayew added.
The Black Challenge, reigning African champions, will be seeking their first-ever World Cup title when they represent Ghana in Mexico. Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq.
