Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone has backed Nigeria forward Ademola Lookman to overcome his dip in form.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Atletico’s UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester United on Tuesday, October 13, Simeone expressed confidence in Lookman’s ability to rediscover his scoring touch.
The 28-year-old has scored just once in nine appearances across all competitions this season, struggling to make an impact in the early stages of the 2026/27 campaign. However, Simeone remains convinced that Lookman has the quality to turn his form around.
“Ademola Lookman is going through a phase where he’s not performing as he’d like to and as we’d like to see him, because he’s shown us what he’s capable of, but he works every day to become that player, the dribbler”.

“He needs to keep dribbling, he needs to lose the ball, he needs to keep pushing forward, because he’ll do well, because he’s got what it takes and because he’s a goal scorer”Simeone said.
