Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick is confident his side can overcome a lengthy injury list ahead of their UEFA Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Tuesday, October 13.
United travel to Spain seeking a positive result after collecting just six points from their opening six league games.
They will be looking to build on their 4-0 victory over debutants Sabah in the Champions League but must do so without several key players, including Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Patrick Dorgu and Benjamin Sesko.
Speaking to reporters ahead of the match, Carrick admitted that the shortage of available players had forced him to make some unexpected selections for the travelling squad.
“They’ve not travelled, they-Mainoo, Shaw-both picked up issues in the game on Saturday [against Spurs].

“At the moment, they are not ready for the game tomorrow. We’re not light on numbers, no” Carrick said.

The injury situation at the club has forced Carrick to include Matthijs de Ligt and youngster Dan Amer. De Ligt has been out of action for several months due to a back injury.
