Carlos Alcaraz has fought back from a set down to beat fellow Spaniard Jaume Munar and reach the Japan Open final.
The defending champion won 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 at Ariake Coliseum on Monday, October 5, to move within one victory of retaining the title he won in 2025. Alcaraz, returning from injury, entered the tournament after helping Team Europe win the 2026 Laver Cup.

He struggled early against Munar, dropping the first set 7-5, but responded strongly to win the second 6-3 before taking control of the decider. Alcaraz won 77 per cent of points behind his first serve and converted six of his 10 break-point opportunities.
Munar won 61 per cent of his first-serve points and converted three of five break points, but could not match Alcaraz’s intensity in the final set. Alcaraz will face the winner of the other semi-final between Jiri Lehecka and Valentin Vacherot as he looks to successfully defend his Tokyo title.
