France looked set for their first defeat under newly appointed head coach Zinedine Zidane after falling behind Belgium in the UEFA Nations League on Monday, October 5.
However, Zidane’s side produced a stunning comeback, scoring four goals in 14 minutes to beat Belgium 4-1. Ballon d’Or nominee Michael Olise starred with two goals and an assist, while Rayan Cherki and Désiré Doué also found the net.
The win extended Zidane’s unbeaten start as France coach to four games, with three wins and a draw. Speaking after the match, Zidane expressed his delight with the comeback and his team’s response to going behind.
“This is soccer, this is what we love. We faced some difficulties in the first half, but that’s part of the game; it’s the kind of match you get from time to time.”

“It’s good to set things right – which is what we did — and we managed to play an extraordinary second half.”

“We knew the substitutes could change the game because they are high-quality players. everyone played their part, and that’s what stands out to me” Zidane said.
