Portugal extended their winning run under head coach Jorge Jesus to three games with a 4-2 victory over Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
Gonçalo Ramos, Vitinha, João Félix and João Cancelo scored for Portugal in Copenhagen as they secured the win amid controversy surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the squad.
Ronaldo, Portugal’s all-time leading scorer, reportedly boycotted training after a disagreement with Jesus over his playing time. He then left the team camp after the coach maintained his position during a press conference ahead of the Denmark clash.
Speaking after scoring in the win, Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha said Portugal responded to the situation in the best possible way.

“It was the best performance we’ve had so far. We are growing, and the truth is, the more we work with the manager, the more we assimilate his ideas.”

“Today we took a step forward in attack. We tried to focus on the game and I think that’s what we did. We responded incredibly. Congratulations to the whole group” Vitinha said.
