Sunderland moved up to 18th in the Premier League after securing a 1-0 victory over Chelsea, with Enzo Le Fée’s first-half penalty proving decisive at the Stadium of Light.
Le Fée converted from the spot in the 36th minute, sending a low right-footed effort just inside the left post to give the hosts the lead.
Chelsea dominated possession but struggled to turn their control into clear-cut opportunities. The visitors had 68% of the ball in the first half, while Sunderland remained compact and looked dangerous when pushing forward.
The hosts had opportunities to extend their advantage, with Brian Brobbey narrowly missing the target from close range. Chelsea also threatened through Roméo Lavia and Morgan Rogers, but neither could find the breakthrough.

Sunderland’s task was complicated by an early injury to Granit Xhaka, who was replaced by Jules Ahoka. The first half also saw a number of stoppages, with five minutes added before the break.
Chelsea increased the pressure after the restart, introducing Estêvão for Levi Colwill as they searched for an equaliser.
Wesley Fofana headed wide, while Malo Gusto and substitute Geovany Quenda also tried their luck as the visitors pushed forward.
However, Sunderland held firm through five minutes of added time to claim three valuable points and leave Chelsea frustrated despite their greater share of possession.
The result offers Sunderland a boost in their fight to climb away from the relegation zone, while Chelsea will rue their inability to make their dominance count.
