Facebook agrees to stream Premier League games from 2019

Facebook has reportedly struck a £200million deal to stream Premier League matches.

All 380 Premier League games played each season from 2019 will be broadcast by Facebook in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos, where BeIN Sports currently has exclusive rights.

Amazon has recently acquired rights to show 20 matches as money keeps flowing into the English top flight.

And The Times claim Facebook have now agreed their own rights deal and will begin work in the lucrative Asian market.

The social media giant has apparently beaten BeIN Sports and Fox Sports Asia to a three-year contract.

It means more money is set to flood into the Prem as more broadcasters tap into its global appeal.

In February, Sky and BT paid a total of £4.46bn to show matches between 2019 and 2022.

BT will show 52 live games a season with Sky remaining the biggest rights holder with 128.

The deal means Prem clubs are set to break through the £5 billion earnings barrier next season.

Deloitte’s 2016-17 figures saw England’s top-flight clubs having revenues of £4.63bn, nearly double the £2.49bn for Spain’s La Liga.
